Rishikesh, a pretty wooded hill town is famous in the world as a spiritual centre. The first town this holy river reaches on its descent from the mountains, Rishikesh, is a town of many ashrams and hermitages. During the mid 1960’s , “ The Beatles” and several other artiests, including Mike Love of The Beach Boy, Donavan and Gyp Mills, visited the site to contemple and meditate. Rishikesh is also to the gateway to the Himalayas. The Chardham Yatra (Four shrine ie. Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Bdrinath.) ideally begins from Rishikesh.

» By Train Rishieksh has small railway staion. Nearest major railway station is Haridwar 24 kms. from Rishikesh.

What to see :
 
» Laxman Jhoola

A suspension bridge across Ganga situated 5 kms. fromRishikesh, on the way to Badrinth. Laxman Jhoola connects the borders of the area of Tehri and Pauri district. It is believed that Ram’s brother Lakshaman cross this river here on a jute rope. Laxman Jhoola is the centre for good time with its bazzars and crowded cafes. On crossing the bridge, one can find colorful and imposing 13 - stories temples, Swar Niwas and Shri Tryambakeshwer.
 
» Ram Jhoola

Similar in construction to Laxman Jhoola it is another suspension bridge between Shiavananda Ashram and Swarg Ashram. It provides an alternative to a boat ride from one bank of Ganga to another.

Bharat mandir :
Built by Adi Shankaracharya around 12th century, Bharat Mata Mandir is situated in the heart of the old town on the bank of the Gnages. Detailed account of this oldest temple available in ancient record of Kedarkhand. The inner sanctum of the temple has the idol of Lod Vishnu, carved out of a single Saligram. In the inner canopy above the idol is shree Yantra installed by Adi Shankaracharya.
 
» Trivani Ghat

The main ghat in the area where most of the pilgrims take holy dip. Triveni ghat is main bathing ghat, where the three river Ganga, Yamuna and Swarswati flow together. The dusk Arti on the ghat is most impressive and is a real sight to behold. Devotee release flower-filled leaf boat carrying tiny oil lamp and let them float out on the river, which is a ceremony of worship, remembrance.
 
» Geeta Bhawan

One the oldest temple complexes in the area. The famous Indian epic Ramayana and Mhabharata are describe here on the wall.
 
» Parmarth Niketan

One the most renowned temple an complexes and asharams in the area. Know for its substantial work in Hindusim, there is school run on traditional Indian patterns. The Asharm organizes excellent Arti and Hawan on Prmarth Niketan ghat every evening.
 
» Swarga Ashram

One can find numerous temples here. This place has the eating joints and shop where one can do shopping. The beautiful statues in the area mesmerize the visitors.
 
» Neer Gharh Water Fall

Neer Gharh is water fall very close to Laxman jhoola. The walk from the road side up to the falls takes 30 minutes. It is very pleasant walk with lovely nature and small falls.
 
» Kujapuri

One hours drive up to Kunja Puri one of the thirteen most important Godessess of Shivali range, the lower Himalayas. One can witness excellent sunrise or sun set and also see most of the peaks of Himalayas from here.
