Yatra begins at Haridwar, located in the foothills of the Shivalik Mountains. Haridwar is one of the four pilgrim center where Kumbh is held every twelve years.

At Har-Ki-Pauri, millions of Hindus take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganga to purify their body and soul. The Ganga Arti performed every evening is a spectacular sight when thousands of lighted lamps are set afloat on the river.

» Hari Ki Pauri

This sacred place also known as Brahamkund It is said that king Shweta performed ‘Tap’ at this place and received the blessing from lord Brahma. So it came to be know Brahamakund. It is said that some ‘Amrit’ ( Nectar) drop fell at this place, when Jayan, the son of Indra, was carrying Amrit kalash. Later king Vikramaditya built the holy ghat in the memory of his brother Bharatrihari. The evening Ganga arti provides and an attractive scene here, as large number of ornate oil lamps ( Diya) with number of flamed burning in pure ghee are offered to mother Ganga.

Manasa Devi Temple
A cable – car rid to the Manasa Devi Temple or another option is climb up to 1.5 kmss stretch to the temple. Goddess Manasa, one of the incarnated form of Goddess Durga is said tohave power to grant your wishes. This is an ancient temple of the Manasa Devi, the reigning deity of Haridwar, regarded as one of the Siddhpeethas. Situated at the top of Bhilwa Parwat, here one statue of Goddess has three mouths and armed while other statue has eight arms. The beautiful view of the city can be seen from this place.
» Chandi Devi

The temple of Chandi Devi atop the Neel Parwat on the bank of river Ganga was constructed in 1929 A.D. by the king of Kashmir – Suchat Sing . Legend has it that the army chief Chanda – Munda of the demon king Shumbh – Nishumbha was killed by Goddess Chandi here after which the place got the name Chandi Devi. One can reach here by ropeway.
» Daksha Mahadev Temple

This ancient Shiva ( Mahadev) temple is located in the south Kankhal town. The mythological legends state that king Daksha Prajapati, the father of Sati ( Lord Shiva’s consort) performed a yagya here but did not invite Lord Shiva. Sati was offended by her father’s behavior and sacrificed here life by jumping into the fire of Yagya. Infuriated Lord Shiva killed king Daksha but later brought him back to life.
» Parad Shivling

Situated in Harihar Ashram, Kankhal. Shivling weighting about 150 kg. and Rudrakhsa trees are the mail attractions here.
» Gurukul kangri University

This venerated institution was founded in 1902 by Swami Shardananda, follower of Swami Shraddhananda Saraswat, the founder of Arya Samaj. It one of pioneering institution to revive the ancient Indian education system in modern India. Here Ancient Vedic and Snskrit literature, Ayurvedic Medicine, Indian Philosophy were made part of the curriculum besides modern sciences and Journalism. Its Archaeological museum, house, some rare statues, coins, painting, manuscripts and artifacts, starting from Harappen culture (2500-1500 B.C.) onwards.
