Kedarnath at the head of the Mandakini Valley is one of the most sacred temples of Lord Shiva. inside the temple Shiva is symbolized by a huge rock representing the hindquarters of a divine buffalo. Its other four parts are worshipped in other places in the Garhwal i.e. arm at Tungnath, face at Rudranath, hair at Kalpeshwar and navel at Madmaheshwar. These four places along with Shri Kedarnath are known as the Panch Kedar.

» Temple

The Kedarnath temple is situated at an altitude of 3580 mts. amidst background of snow covered mountain peaks and greenery. The temple is built of large, heavy and evenly cut grey slabs of stones and is considered more than 1000 years old. The inner walls of assembly hall are decorated with figures of various deities and scenes from mythology.
Out side the temple door a large statue of the Nandi Bull stands as guard. The temple has a “ Garbha Griha” for warship and a Mandap apt for assemblies of pilgrims and visitors. A conical rock formation in side the temple is worshipped as Lord Shiva in his Sadashiva form.
» Shankaracharya Smadhi

Behind the Kedarnath temple lies the Samadhi or the final resting place of Adi Guru Shankaracharya. It believed, after establishing the four dhams in India, he took his Samadhi at an early age of 32 years. It is surprising to believe, how at a tender age of 32, this enlighten man from the southernmost part of India, Kerala, traveled all across India, discussing religion, writing religious treaties, and last resting eternally at northernmost part of India, in the ice ground of Kedarnath.
» Chorabari (Gandhi Sarover)

Chorabari a small lake from where Yudhisthir, the eldest of the Pandava, is believed to have departed to heaven. The floating ice on the sparkling waters of the lake is fascinating sight. Only 2 kms. trek away from Kedarnath.
» Vasuki Tal

At a distance of 6 kms. from Kedarnath, a picturesque lake, 4135 mts. above sea level is encircle by lofty mountain and offers a breathtaking view of the Chaukhamba peaks.
» Triyuginarayan

12 kms. from Sonepryag, Triyuginarayan is the mythological venue. According to legend, it was the place where the wedding of Lord Shiva and Parvati was solemnized. In front of the Shiva temple is an eternal flame, which is said be a witness to the marriage.
